The following books are in various stages of completion. As an author I work best when I switch between several writing tasks because the tone of each of these projects is very different. It is my goal in 2008 to devote enough time to my writing that several of these books are under contract.
Sun Damage, a manuscript of poetry that
examines the intersections of culture and capitalism in the American Southwest.
Obligatorium, a manuscript of poetry that
describes coming of age in a disturbed suburban family.
The Motherhood Manifesto, a memoir that
examines my relationship with my mother, who was an active member of the Communist
Party USA.
My Brother's Genius, a collection of personal
essays that describe the dynamics of a family who survives the implosion
of the American Dream.
Buffalo Turquoise, a memoir that chronicles
caring for my terminally ill mother-in-law.
Painting the Deck, a book of poems that
examines one postmodern woman's struggle to reconcile the conflicting demands
of environmentalism and consumerism.
Poets with a Pulse, a textbook designed
for University level Creative Writing classes in Poetry. The text focuses
on working contemporary American poets.
